QR Code Reader
Scan QR codes with your camera or upload an image to instantly read its contents. Copy decoded text, inspect links, and access supported QR information directly in your browser.
Align the QR code inside the dashed frame, hold steady, and keep it well lit.
Scanning settings
Upload an image containing a QR code
Or drag and drop an image here, or paste one with Ctrl+V / Cmd+V. PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF or BMP, up to 15 MB.
QR decoding happens in your browser. Your camera feed and uploaded image are not sent to a QR-decoding server by this tool. If your browser lacks a built-in QR detector, small decoder libraries (jsQR, and ZXing only if the first attempts fail) are downloaded from the jsDelivr CDN; no images or results are sent there.
Scan history (this visit only)
History lives in memory only and disappears when you close or refresh the page. Nothing is saved to your browser.
How to scan a QR code
- Choose Scan with Camera or Upload Image.
- For the camera, press Start Camera and allow access. For an image, choose, drop or paste it.
- Wait for decoding. A real decode must succeed before any result appears.
- Read, copy, or explicitly open the result.
What this reader can show
- Website links, plain text, email, phone, SMS, Wi-Fi details (password masked), contact cards (summary only) and geo coordinates. Anything else is shown as the exact decoded text.
- Decoded content is never opened, run or fetched automatically. A QR code can lead anywhere, so check the destination before you open it.
FAQ
Why is my camera not working?
Common causes: permission denied, no camera, another app using it, an unsupported browser, or a page not served over HTTPS. Image upload works without camera access.
Can I scan a screenshot or photo?
Yes. Upload, drop or paste the image. If the whole image doesn’t decode, the reader looks for QR finder patterns, crops and rescales those regions, and as a last resort scans overlapping tiles. A code inside a poster doesn’t need manual cropping. A sharp, complete code works best.
Does it upload my image or scanned text?
No. Camera frames and images are processed in your browser and decoded content is never sent anywhere by this tool.
Does it store my scans?
No. History is kept in memory for the current visit only.
Can it read several QR codes in one image?
Sometimes. The built-in detector can return several codes, and the reader also decodes each separate QR region it finds. Codes it cannot locate may be missed.
Does scanning mean the link is safe?
No. Decoding only reveals what the code contains. This tool does not check destinations for safety.
What if no QR code is detected?
Try a clearer or larger image, make sure the whole code and its quiet border are visible, and avoid glare or blur.
Does it work offline?
Not on the first visit if your browser needs the jsQR or ZXing fallback download. Browsers with a built-in QR detector decode without it.
