Supported links: is.gd and v.gd short links, through their official lookup API. Other shortening services (bit.ly, t.co, TinyURL and so on) are not supported, because browsers cannot read their redirects directly and no verified public lookup API is built in. The lookup provider receives the URL you submit, so avoid confidential links.
Expanding a URL reveals where a link may lead. It does not guarantee that the destination is safe.

How to expand a URL
- Paste a supported short link (is.gd or v.gd).
- Check the normalized address shown under the field.
- Click Expand URL.
- Review the destination, the status label and any limits listed.
- Copy the result or download a report. Opening the destination is a separate, explicit action.
What this tool can and cannot tell you
- A short link’s destination comes from the provider’s own lookup. The result is labeled “Resolved”, not “final”, because the destination may redirect again and this tool does not follow it.
- No HTTP status codes or full redirect chains are shown, because the lookup API does not supply them.
- There is no phishing or malware scanning. HTTPS, a familiar domain or a successful lookup do not make a link safe.
FAQ
Can this tool expand every shortened URL?
No. It supports is.gd and v.gd links only. Browsers block pages from reading arbitrary cross-origin redirects, so general expansion usually needs a secure server-side resolver, which this static page does not include.
What is the difference between an expanded and a final destination?
The provider returns the address a short link points to. That address may itself redirect elsewhere. A destination is called final only when the method confirms the last hop, which this one cannot.
Can I see every redirect hop and HTTP status code?
No. The lookup API returns only the destination, so only the submitted URL and the returned destination are listed, and no status codes are shown.
Does expanding open the destination?
No. The destination is never visited by this page. Open Destination opens it in a new tab only when you click it.
Can it tell me whether a link is safe?
No. It only reveals an address. Check the domain carefully and be cautious with unfamiliar links.
Why did the lookup fail?
Likely causes: the short link does not exist or was disabled, an unsupported domain, a provider rate limit, an outage, a timeout, or a browser cross-origin (CORS) block. Your input stays in the field so you can retry.
Is my URL sent to another service?
Yes. The submitted short URL is sent to is.gd or v.gd to look it up. Nothing else receives it, and there is no analytics request.
Does expansion remove tracking parameters?
No. The destination is shown exactly as the provider returned it, including query parameters and fragment. Link details only say whether they are present.
Can I expand an ordinary long URL?
It is accepted as input, but it is reported as unsupported, since this tool cannot verify where a non-is.gd/v.gd URL redirects.
