Shorten long links instantly with a free online URL shortener. Generate a shareable link, copy it in one click, and use it in messages, emails, or social media.

Advanced options

Supported by every listed provider. The provider decides if it is free.

Kept in memory only for this page visit and sent only to api.tinyurl.com. It grants access to your TinyURL account’s API, so never share it.

Your selected provider receives the destination URL to create the redirect. Avoid shortening private links that contain tokens or personal data.

How to use the URL Shortener

  1. Paste a long URL. Without a scheme, https:// is added and the normalized address is shown under the field.
  2. Leave the provider on Automatic, or pick one in Advanced options.
  3. Click Shorten URL and wait for the provider’s response.
  4. Copy or open the short link.

Benefits and limits

FAQ

Is it free, and do I need to register?

is.gd and v.gd are used without an account, subject to their own rate limits and terms. TinyURL needs your own API token. Limits can change, so none are promised here.

Will query parameters be kept?

Yes. The full URL, including UTM parameters and fragment, is sent to the provider. The browser may percent-encode some characters when normalizing it.

Can I choose the ending of a short link?

Yes, with a custom alias. The alias only exists if the provider confirms it. If it is taken you will see the provider’s message and can try another.

Can I track clicks?

Not from this page. Any analytics come from the provider’s own tools. UTM parameters only help analytics on the destination site.

Is my URL stored?

The provider stores the destination so the redirect works. The recent-links list here is in memory only.

Can I edit or delete a short link?

Not from this tool. That depends on the provider and usually needs an account.

Are short links safe?

A short address hides the destination, so only share links you trust. This tool does not scan destinations for malware.

Why did shortening fail?

Common causes: an invalid URL or alias, a provider rate limit, a missing token, a provider outage, a timeout, or a browser cross-origin (CORS) block. Your URL stays in the field so you can retry.

Why more than one provider?

In Automatic mode, if one provider is down or blocked, the next eligible one is tried. The result card always names the provider that actually created the link. If you choose a provider manually, no other is used.
