What is a 3D Dice Roller?

A 3D dice roller renders virtual dice as real polyhedral 3D objects instead of flat images. Each die tumbles in a rendered scene and settles on a value chosen by a fair random generator, with the visible face always matching the recorded result.

Which dice types are supported?

D4 (tetrahedron), D6 (cube), D8 (octahedron), D10 (pentagonal-trapezohedron style die numbered 1โ€“10), D12 (dodecahedron) and D20 (icosahedron).

Can I use D&D dice notation?

Yes โ€” enter expressions like 2d6+3, 1d20+5, 4d6kh3 (keep highest 3) or 2d20kl1 (keep lowest 1). Invalid notation is rejected with a clear message; nothing is ever evaluated as code.

Are the results really random?

Yes. Results use the browser's cryptographic random source (crypto.getRandomValues) with rejection sampling to avoid bias, falling back to Math.random() only if that API is unavailable.

Does the visible face match the result?

Yes โ€” the random result is generated first, then the die's final 3D orientation is calculated so the correct face faces upward. The animation never determines the number; the number determines the animation.
